Nell’ambito dell’impegno del presidente per riportare l’Iraq nel Consiglio per l’Unità Economica Araba, l’Unione ha tenuto una serie di incontri di alto livello.

As part of the drive by Ambassador Ahmed Abbas Al-Hasani, President of the Arab Union for Combating Forgery and Counterfeiting, to bring Iraq back into the Council of Arab Economic Unity, a meeting was held at the Council’s headquarters in Cairo in the presence of Secretary-General Ambassador Mohammadi Ahmed Al-Ni, Dr Bashar Al-Saadi, adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister, and the Iraqi Consul, Dr Hazem Al-Sudani, together with Egyptian investors and representatives of the Iraqi government.

The Secretary-General welcomed the guests and stressed the importance of Iraq’s return to the Council and of attracting investors, particularly from Egypt. Consul Dr Al-Sudani answered investors’ questions on investment opportunities and the investment law. Ambassador Al-Hasani said Iraq offers an Arab environment ready for investment, with government institutions that work in favour of investors, and pointed to investments by companies such as Elsewedy as proof that Iraq can open new industrial horizons, alongside significant potential in tourism.

Dr Bashar Al-Saadi explained that Iraq’s political diversity serves the integration of all state institutions as a sound investment environment, and noted incentives such as land provided free of charge, services and a ten-year tax exemption. Counsellor Ayman Amer, head of the Union’s Egypt branch, called for resolving the legal problems investors face so that credible, transparent cooperation and sustainable development between Egypt and Iraq can continue. Dr Abeer El-Essawy, Secretary-General, praised the President’s sincere efforts for Iraq’s return. The meeting concluded with agreement to facilitate every path to Iraq’s return to the Council and to strengthen effective communication for a better future for Iraq, Egypt and all Arab countries.
